Opportunities and challenges in the environment of Industrie 4.0

Industrial production and control systems are increasingly more interconnected. Increased networking, especially with the Internet, makes it a target for Internet attacks as they occur in all networked IT systems. As part of the new development of Industrie 4.0, the forensic analysis of network traffic in industrial settings is becoming increasingly important.

On behalf of our industry customers we work on specific use cases, such as revealing damage claims or analysing cyber attacks. Knowledge of industry-specific protocols such as Profinet, OPC, S7 or IEC61850, and their specific evaluation form here a focus of the work.

The network traffic may be either recorded, like in a context of gathering evidence or it may be real-time monitoring of running network traffic by employing powerful and reliable tools.
